Church of San Nicolás, Gothic Catholic church in Ciutat Vella, Spain.

The Church of San Nicolás is a Gothic place of worship in the Old Town of Valencia featuring a single nave, six side chapels, and a polygonal apse behind the main altar. The interior displays characteristic features of Valencian Gothic architecture with its vertical lines and structured proportions.

Founded in 1242, this church was among the first twelve Christian parishes in Valencia after Jaume I's conquest of the city. Major modifications in the 15th century shaped the Gothic appearance that remains visible today.

The interior walls display extensive fresco paintings showing scenes from the lives of Saint Nicholas and Saint Peter Martyr, created by Antonio Palomino. These artworks shape how the church feels today and tell stories of religious devotion through visual art.

The building sits on a narrow street in the Old Town and is easy to overlook from outside because it is surrounded by other structures. It helps to know the address or use a local map to locate it.

Alfonso de Borgia served as rector here before becoming Pope Callixtus III. A ceramic plaque inside marks this noteworthy connection to one of Christianity's highest offices.
