Casa Peris, Gothic Revival building in Old Town, Valencia, Spain
Casa Peris sits at the corner of Caballeros and Borja streets, combining stone and brick facades with ornate decoration. The four-story residential structure features bay windows beginning from the first floor, creating a distinctive presence on the street corner.
Architect José María Manuel Cortina Pérez designed this building in 1897 to replace an earlier house on the site. This new construction was part of Valencia's urban transformation during the late 19th century.
The building displays a blend of Neo-Gothic and Neo-Mudejar styles that were fashionable among wealthy Valencia residents in the late 1800s. This architectural choice reflected the tastes of the city's upper class and their interest in medieval revival design.
The building is located at a central intersection in the Old Town and is easily accessible on foot from nearby landmarks. The street-level location provides clear views of the facade and its decorative details.
Rosa Peris specifically requested the architect to design this building following the style of Edificio Cortina I, though with a notable difference. The building features less prominent Byzantine crosses compared to its architectural counterpart.
