Herrería de Compludo

The Herrería de Compludo sits at the meeting point of Miera and Miruelos streams, featuring a traditional water wheel that powers the metalworking equipment.

Dating from the 18th century, this forge played a central role in the region's metallurgy development, producing high-quality wrought iron through traditional methods.

The site demonstrates early industrial engineering with its hydraulic wheel system and furnace design, which incorporates the Venturi principle for air circulation.

Located near Ponferrada, the forge welcomes visitors from Wednesday to Sunday between 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

This forge remains the only operational facility of its kind in the region, maintaining original metalworking techniques from medieval times.
