El Cavall Bernat, Monolithic summit in Montserrat Mountains, Spain
El Cavall Bernat rises 245 meters from its base as a freestanding conglomerate rock pinnacle in the eastern sector of Montserrat, above Monistrol.
The first documented climbing expedition to reach the summit of El Cavall Bernat took place in 1935 through the Les Lluernes ridge pathway.
The climbing community established the Grup Cavall Bernat in 1978 to unite climbers who successfully reached the summit of this natural monument.
Visitors access the pinnacle by parking near Santa Cecilia Chapel and following a marked trail across the hillside for approximately 30 minutes.
The formation received its current name through a linguistic modification from 'Carall Bernat' to 'Cavall Bernat' to maintain public decorum.
