Montgròs, Mountain summit in El Bruc, Spain
Montgròs is a mountain peak in El Bruc that reaches 1,133 meters in elevation and features a flat summit plateau with distinctive conglomerate rock formations throughout. The exposed stone surfaces dominate the upper slopes, creating a stark landscape at the top.
The peak was first documented and explored in 1880 when Cèsar August Torras led an expedition through previously unmapped sections of the mountain. This early exploration contributed to mapping the wider region.
This peak is integrated into the Montserrat Natural Park and serves as a focal point for outdoor enthusiasts exploring Catalonia's geological landscape. Local hikers and visitors frequent the routes to experience the region's natural character firsthand.
Several hiking trails lead to the summit from different starting points, with the main route beginning at the Font de la Cadireta spring and clearly marked throughout. Wear sturdy footwear and bring water, as the upper sections are exposed to sun and wind.
The southern face offers exceptional views of the Plecs del Llibre rock formations, a striking geological feature visible from the municipality of El Bruc below. This perspective makes the approach from that direction particularly memorable for visitors.
