GR 92, Hiking trail along Mediterranean coast in Spain
GR-92 is a long-distance hiking trail that runs for roughly 822 kilometers along the Mediterranean coast through Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia, and Andalusia. The route is divided into 41 daily stages and passes through a mix of rocky headlands, sandy beaches, and small valleys.
Much of the northern section in Costa Brava follows segments of the Camí de Ronda, an old path built in the 18th century for coastal surveillance and to stop smuggling. This historical route still shapes how the trail feels today.
The trail connects many Spanish coastal towns, and hikers can observe how architecture, food traditions, and daily life differ from one region to the next. In numerous places, visitors encounter old squares and buildings that reflect how people have lived and worked along this coast.
The path is marked with white and red stripes on trees and rocks, and regularly passes through small coastal towns with shops and places to stay. Hikers need sturdy shoes and should carry water, especially on longer sections between settlements.
The route is part of the European E10 long-distance path network, linking Spanish coastal trails to a larger hiking network across the continent. This connection allows walkers to extend their journey beyond Spain.
