Lourido, White sand beach in Poio, Spain
Lourido is a white sand beach in the municipality of Poio, on the southern shore of the Ría de Pontevedra. It runs about 700 metres along the coast and is roughly 10 metres wide, with a gentle entry into the water. The beach sits in the Lourido parish, near the road that follows the ría towards Pontevedra.
The beach is part of the natural coastal geography of the Pontevedra region and belongs to a series of beaches along this section of the Galician coast. This location has made it an established place for locals over time.
The beach serves as a gathering place where locals play football and engage in other activities along the shore. People come here regularly for social gatherings and water sports.
Lourido sits at the end of the Rúa Lourido road in the parish of Samieira, and bathers walk down from the roadside parking to the sand. Showers and toilets operate in season. The beach faces west into the Ría de Pontevedra, so the afternoon sun stays late and the sandbank offshore is exposed at low tide.
A natural sandbank in the water creates an additional sunbathing area at low tide, setting this beach apart from others nearby. This temporary feature makes each visit different depending on tidal conditions.
