AEMet Izaña

AEMet Izaña is an atmospheric research center located at 3718 meters on Mount Teide that continuously collects weather data. Specialists here measure temperature, humidity, air pressure, and other properties of the air using specialized equipment.

The observatory began operations in 1916 and has maintained a continuous record of measurements since then. This long history makes it a valuable resource for understanding how weather and climate have changed over many decades.

The site has become a place where you can observe how Saharan dust reaches and affects the local sky and weather patterns. People who work here study how far particles travel from Africa and how they shape conditions across the Atlantic.
