Antskog bruk, Registered archaeological site in Raseborg, Finland
Antskog bruk is an old industrial site in Raseborg built along the Anskunjoki river. You can see stone foundations, walls of workshops, and a channel system that directed water to power the machinery.
The site was founded in 1630 by a German merchant and first made iron products. After two centuries it was changed into a wool fabric factory.
The site shows how people once used water power to run factories and make cloth. The building remains and channels tell the story of work that continued here across many generations.
The site is open year-round with marked trails connecting the different parts of the complex. Wear comfortable shoes since the ground is uneven and water is nearby in several places.
A sluice built in 1824 improved ore transport from Malmberget mountain by cleverly redirecting water. This was an important solution that made the whole operation more profitable.
