Dômes de Miage

Dômes de Miage is a mountain massif with multiple peaks connected by a high snow ridge that extends from Col de la Bérangère to surrounding ridgelines. The complex terrain features several distinct summits arranged across the alpine landscape.

The massif was first climbed in 1858 by alpine explorers, marking the start of systematic mountaineering activity in this region. These early ascents opened the way for increased exploration and use of the area.

Notre-Dame de la Gorge church, the starting point for trails leading to Dômes de Miage, displays Renaissance frescoes and characteristic Baroque architecture.

This area is best reached during warmer months when snow and ice conditions allow safe passage. Climbers should be experienced with alpine conditions and carry appropriate gear for high-altitude terrain.

The principal peaks of the massif reach notably different elevations, with variations of just a few meters between the main summits. This subtle height difference makes route planning an interesting challenge for mountaineers.
