Richebourg

Richebourg is a Grand Cru vineyard in the Vosne-Romanée commune of Burgundy, stretching across about 8 hectares of land. The limestone and clay soil creates ideal growing conditions for Pinot Noir grapes that develop into rich, structured red wines.

The vineyard received official recognition in 1936 as a controlled origin wine region, during the same era when Burgundy began formalizing its classification system. This Grand Cru status places it among France's most prestigious wine locations.

Multiple producers share ownership of the vineyard, each following traditional Burgundian methods passed down through generations. This collective stewardship shapes how the wine is made and what it represents to the region.

Access to the vineyard is typically arranged through individual producers, who offer visits by appointment. Planning ahead is necessary to arrange a tour with one of the estates that owns land here.

Regulations permit up to 15 percent of white grape varieties in the blend, yet most producers choose to use nearly pure Pinot Noir instead. This discipline results in wines that express the soil and climate more directly.
