Established in 1936 as an Appellation d'origine contrôlée, Richebourg emerged during a period when Burgundy wine production standards were being formalized.
Multiple vineyard owners, including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti with 3.51 hectares, maintain traditional winemaking methods that reflect Burgundian heritage.
The vineyard maintains strict production standards, requiring 9,000 vines per hectare and generating approximately 26,000 bottles annually from its harvest.
The wine composition allows for up to 15 percent of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris grapes, though producers typically use pure Pinot Noir.
