Claude Prouvé designed and built this postal facility between 1969 and 1972 as part of France's modernization of communications infrastructure. The facility was later converted into a congress center after sorting operations moved to a new industrial platform near Metz-Nancy-Lorraine airport in late 2006 and early 2007.

The building reflects 1970s design ideals through its clean, functional architecture with generous glass surfaces and open spaces for postal operations. This industrial layout shows how workplaces were conceived for modern mail and logistics tasks of that era.

The building sits along a major thoroughfare in Nancy and is easily visible from outside, with its facade clearly showing its industrial purpose. A visit works best in morning or early afternoon hours when the architecture is most apparent in daylight.

The building received recognition in 2001 as Heritage of the 20th Century for its contribution to industrial design in France. This award reflects that Prouvé's design was not only functional but also architecturally forward-thinking for its time.
