Château des Baux, Medieval castle in Les Baux-de-Provence, France
The fortress stands on a rocky outcrop with fortified walls, towers, and a rectangular keep that overlooks the Provence countryside.
Built between the 10th and 16th centuries, the castle served as a stronghold for the Lords of Baux until its dismantlement in 1632.
The castle hosts medieval demonstrations including herbalism workshops, coin minting activities, and battle reenactments throughout the summer season.
The site offers combined tickets with Carrieres des Lumieres, guided tours in multiple languages, and remains open year-round except Christmas Day.
The current royal family of Monaco holds the title of Marquis of Baux, maintaining a direct connection to this ancient fortress.
