Casino de Pornichet, Entertainment complex in Pornichet, France
Casino de Pornichet is an entertainment complex along Boulevard des Océanides with gaming tables, slot machines, a restaurant, and a bar. The building faces the Atlantic Ocean and combines gaming facilities with a multi-purpose event space.
The current building opened in 1911, replacing an earlier facility from 1882 that was part of the Grand Hotel de l'Ocean. The new structure reflected the growing demand for leisure facilities at Atlantic coastal resorts.
The building displays Art Nouveau features designed by Nantes architects, with decorative elements visible in its facade and interior spaces. These design choices reflect the seaside leisure culture that shaped French resort towns in the early 1900s.
The facility operates daily year-round and features gaming areas alongside a restaurant with seating for about 50 people. Everything visitors need for a day of gaming and dining is available under one roof.
During World War I, the building was transformed into a theâtre aux armées, serving as entertainment for military personnel. This wartime conversion shows how leisure venues adapted their purpose to serve the armed forces.
