Pointe de Sistaja, Mountain summit in Corsica, France.
Pointe de Sistaja is a mountain summit on the Cuscionu plateau in Corsica, rising to 1476 meters. The slopes feature exposed rock formations and thick Mediterranean plant life.
The summit contains remains of old sheepfolds from centuries of pastoral use by Corsican herders. These structures reveal the long tradition of livestock raising in this highland area.
Local farmers continue the seasonal movement of livestock between valleys and mountain pastures near Pointe de Sistaja, preserving traditional herding methods.
The main route starts from the D69 road between Zicavu and Aullene, following marked trails into the highlands. The hike takes roughly three hours and passes through beech forests on the way up.
From the top, you can see across both the Taravu and Fium'Orbu river valleys at once, giving a wide view of the island. Winter brings cross-country skiing routes that open up the high plateau.
