Punta del Fornello

Punta del Fornello is a mountain summit in Corsica that rises to 1680 meters and features exposed granite rock with steep drop-offs. The bare stone formations command views across the surrounding landscape and create a rugged environment for those who climb there.

The mountain formed through tectonic movements and erosion that shaped Corsican geology over millions of years. These processes created the granite landscape that defines southern Corsica today.

The mountain is rooted in local herding traditions, where families have moved their flocks across the slopes following patterns passed down through generations.

The climb follows marked trails starting from the village of Quenza and requires sturdy shoes and plenty of water. Bad weather can make the rocky slopes slippery, so extra caution is needed on misty or wet days.

On clear days the summit reveals views of both the Mediterranean Sea and the tallest peaks of central Corsica at the same time. This rare view makes it a distinctive vantage point that few other peaks offer.
