Cumpuleddu, Natural arch in Quenza, France
The Tafonu di u Cumpuleddu features a granite arch formation measuring 8 meters in diameter, positioned at an elevation of 1350 meters in Corsica.
The location historically served as a pastoral enclosure where shepherds kept their sheep and goats, reflected in its name which means small enclosure in Corsican.
The natural formation stands along the GR20 hiking trail, marking an important point for hikers traversing through the mountainous regions of Corsica.
The arch can be reached through a 2.5-hour round trip hike from Col de Bavella, following well-marked paths through pine forests and rocky terrain.
The natural arch formation resulted from specific erosion patterns on granite rock, creating a distinct geological structure in the Bavella mountain range.
