Piscia di Gallo, Natural cascade in Parc naturel régional de Corse, France
Piscia di Gallo is a waterfall within the Parc naturel régional de Corse that drops roughly 60 meters over rocky steps into a forested valley. The water flows through dense vegetation and forms several small pools as it descends.
The waterfall formed over thousands of years through erosion of granite and schist rock in this mountainous area. The region has been traversed by island inhabitants since ancient times, with some of their paths still visible today.
Local residents maintain traditional hiking paths to the waterfall, preserving access for generations of nature enthusiasts and photographers.
The best time to visit is from May through September, when the paths are dry and safe to walk. Bring proper hiking boots with good grip, as the path is steep and can be slippery.
Water collects in natural rock pools that feel refreshingly cool on warm days and invite a quick dip. These hidden basins are hard to spot from above and often go unnoticed by passing visitors.
