Camp del Paronas

Camp del Paronas is a mountain summit in the eastern Pyrenees reaching about 2,570 meters in elevation. The peak offers expansive views across the border region, where France and Spain meet along the high ridgeline.

The peak became established as a border marker following the Treaty of the Pyrenees in 1659. Since then, this mountain ridge has served as a dividing line between the two nations.

Local shepherds traditionally used the surrounding slopes during summer months for grazing their flocks, following centuries-old pastoral practices.

Visitors should wear sturdy boots and bring weather-resistant clothing, as the climb is demanding and conditions can change quickly. The route is marked, but the elevation gain requires good fitness and caution in poor weather.

The summit experiences specific weather patterns where Mediterranean and Atlantic influences meet, creating distinct meteorological conditions throughout the year.
