Red House, Colonial building in Kingston, Georgetown, Guyana
The Red House stands as a nineteenth-century wooden structure with red wallaba shingles, a prominent tower, balconies, and traditional Demerara windows.
The building served as the residence for Colonial Secretaries from 1925 to 1953 before becoming the official home of Premier Cheddi Jagan until 1964.
The Cheddi Jagan Research Centre, established in 2000, maintains archives, photographs, and documents chronicling Guyana's political development through its collections.
The ground floor functions as a conference space while the middle floor contains extensive archives available for researchers studying Guyanese political history.
Following the Non-Aligned Nations conference in 1972, the authorities renamed the structure Kamana Court and declared it a national monument of Guyana.
