Grabovo, Tompojevci, Settlement in Vukovar-Srijem County, Croatia
Grabovo is a settlement in Vukovar-Srijem County consisting of two separate hamlets called Ovčara and Jakobovac located to the north. Both communities lie within the administrative area of Vukovar.
The settlement was significantly affected during the Croatian War of Independence in 1991 when approximately 150 residents were displaced from their homes. This conflict left lasting marks on the community.
The settlement grew from a pustara, a traditional village type found across the Pannonian plains of Croatia. This heritage shapes how the place looks and feels today.
The area sits in eastern Croatia's flat landscape and is easiest to reach by car or on foot. Good orientation helps since the two hamlets are somewhat spread apart.
The southern part of the settlement remains completely empty and falls under the administration of Tompojevci municipality. This uninhabited section clearly shows how historical events shaped where people now live.
