Dudik Memorial Park, Memorial complex and park in Vukovar, Croatia
Dudik Memorial Park is a memorial complex and park in Vukovar featuring five conical stone towers approximately 18 meters tall, each topped with copper. Twenty-seven stone blocks shaped like boats surround the towers in a deliberate arrangement.
Between 1941 and 1943, the site witnessed executions during World War II. The memorial park was completed in 1980 by architect Bogdan Bogdanović as a response to these tragic events.
The memorial serves as a place where people gather to remember those lost during wartime. Visitors come to reflect on the past and honor the memory of those who died here.
The memorial site is open and accessible to visitors, with plenty of space to walk around and take time for reflection. The grounds are well-maintained and open throughout the year.
The stone blocks surrounding the towers represent boats, connecting the memorial to Vukovar's long relationship with the Danube River. This symbolic link between tragedy and water gives the park design a deeper meaning.
