Church of Saints Philip and James

The Church of Saints Philip and James features a long central nave, multiple side altars, and detailed Baroque architectural elements throughout its structure.

Franciscan monks initiated the construction of this religious building in 1723, completing it in 1732 before its official dedication by Sigismund Berenyi in 1738.

The church maintains regular Catholic services and holds special celebrations for the feast days of Saints Philip and James throughout the liturgical calendar.

Located at Samostanska Street 5 in central Vukovar, the church welcomes visitors during daylight hours and provides guided tours upon request.

Three bells installed in 1924 included one donated by Sofija Eltz, the final countess of Vukovar, marking the end of aristocratic influence.
