Mrzla Vodica

Mrzla Vodica is a mountain settlement in the Gorski Kotar region, surrounded by thick forests and natural spring water sources. The terrain is marked by streams and woodland cover typical of this mountainous area.

The settlement formed in the 18th century after construction of the Karolina road improved trade connections and brought more people to the area. This road link allowed a permanent community to develop and grow.

The name Mrzla Vodica means Cold Water, a reference to the natural springs that have shaped how locals organized their daily routines over generations. The water sources remain visible throughout the settlement today.

The settlement is near the town of Lokve and serves as a starting point for many hiking trails in the mountains. The best time to visit is between spring and autumn when weather conditions favor outdoor activities.

The settlement enjoys a cool climate year-round due to its elevation, making it a natural refuge during hot summer months. This consistent coolness shapes the local plant life, keeping the forest particularly lush and green.
