M3 Archeopark

M3 Archeopark is a five-hectare archaeological park alongside the M3 motorway that features reconstructed buildings from various historical periods. The site includes exhibition spaces, a lake, and open areas where visitors can explore how ancient peoples lived and organized their communities.

The park's origins come from archaeological excavations during M3 motorway construction, which uncovered artifacts and structures spanning from the Neolithic period through the Migration era. These discoveries reveal how populations inhabited and developed in this region across thousands of years.

The park displays three distinct burial practices from ancient populations, each reflecting different beliefs and social customs of their time. Visitors can observe how these varied methods were used across different cultures and periods represented at the site.

The park is located approximately 175 kilometers from Budapest and is easily reached by car via the motorway. Visitors should wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes as the site requires walking through outdoor areas, especially when exploring the reconstructed buildings and exhibition spaces.

The site preserves a Neolithic house measuring 7 by 11 meters with reddish painted walls, constructed using authentic building techniques from around 5000 BC. This structure demonstrates how ancient peoples created durable dwellings with simple tools and natural materials available to them.
