Blarney Castle, Medieval fortress in Blarney, Ireland.

The stone castle rises 90 feet high above the River Martin, featuring defensive walls, towers, and multiple chambers across its three main levels.

Constructed in 1446 by Cormac MacCarthy, Lord of Muskerry, the castle fell to Parliamentarian forces during the Irish Confederate Wars of 1646.

The Blarney Stone sits at the top of the castle, where visitors perform the traditional ritual of kissing it while lying backward.

The castle opens daily year-round with guided tours available, and visitors can purchase tickets at the entrance or through the official website.

The castle grounds contain a Poison Garden with a collection of toxic plants, including wolfsbane, mandrake, and ricinus, all secured behind iron gates.
