Goregaon, Residential suburb in Mumbai, India.
Goregaon is a residential suburb in the western part of Mumbai, India, located between Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the coastline. Apartment towers stand alongside markets, office blocks and small patches of greenery that shape the everyday urban landscape.
This part of Mumbai used to be dotted with villages and farmland before the railway expanded westward and brought new settlers. The shift to a densely populated suburb began in the second half of the 20th century as the city grew outward.
The neighborhood maintains strong connections to native communities, including East Indians, Somvanshi Kshatriya Pathare, and Koli people who contribute to local traditions.
Two railway stations offer connections southward to Churchgate and eastward to the city center, with trains running frequently but crowded during peak hours. Rickshaws and buses operate throughout the day, linking residential pockets to the station and shopping streets.
A large studio complex in the northern part of the district has served as a filming location for countless movies and television series over the decades. Visitors sometimes spot outdoor shoots while walking through the surrounding streets.
