Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Bandra

The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel features a spacious design with large windows and vertical concrete fins that regulate sunlight throughout the structure.

Established in 1894 by Jesuit missionaries, the church underwent reconstruction and Archbishop Simon Pimenta inaugurated the new building on February 11, 1981.

The church maintains strong connections with local fishing communities, who contributed to its initial construction by transporting building materials using their boats.

Religious services occur daily at 6:00 AM, 6:45 AM, 7:30 AM, and 7:00 PM, with additional mass times available on weekends for the congregation.

The entrance displays a cantilevered canopy representing two hands joined in prayer, while the sanctuary contains a cross carved from a single tree.
