Main Operating Base Price, Military installation in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Main Operating Base Price was a military installation in Nahri Saraj District in Helmand Province at about 835 meters elevation. The facility included helipads, barracks, and tactical operations centers designed to support international military activities.
The base was established in 2006 and served as headquarters for British forces and the Danish Battle Group during Operation Herrick. It closed in March 2014, ending eight years of operations in the region.
Military personnel from Britain, Denmark, and the United States collaborated with Afghan forces at the base, contributing to regional defense training initiatives.
The installation contained medical facilities, living quarters, supply depots, and command centers that sustained international operations. Visitors should know the base is no longer accessible today and only architectural remnants remain on site.
Personnel at the site called the facility "HMS Price" as an homage to British naval traditions and the strong British military presence. This nickname reflected how the international troops adopted local naming conventions during their deployment.
