Tomb of Ahmad Shah Durrani

The Tomb of Ahmad Shah Durrani is an octagonal structure topped with a large blue-tiled dome, standing on a basaltic platform. Inside, decorated niches display yellow and green patterns, while visitors can explore both the main chamber with its ornate walls and ceiling, and an underground room holding the royal family graves.

The tomb was built in the late eighteenth century to honor Ahmad Shah Durrani, the founder of the Durrani Empire and creator of modern Afghanistan. Its construction reflects the period when a new nation was taking shape in Central Asia.
