Tezpur Airport, airport in India
Tezpur Airport is a small airport near the town of Tezpur in Assam, India. It has a simple terminal building with one paved runway and capacity to handle about 50 passengers at the same time.
The airport was built in 1942 during the Second World War. After the war ended, it became a military air force base in 1959 and remains an important location for the Indian Air Force in the northeast.
The airport sits about 15 kilometers from the town of Tezpur and is easy to reach. The facility is located at about 240 feet in elevation, and travelers should arrive with enough time for check-in and security procedures.
The airport is also known as Salonibari Airport, named after the small village of Salonibari where it is located. Today only one airline, Alliance Air, operates regular routes to nearby cities such as Guwahati, Lilabari, and Pasighat.
