Firozabad district, Administrative district in western Uttar Pradesh, India
Firozabad is an administrative district in western Uttar Pradesh with five administrative divisions including Ferozabad, Tundla, Shikohabad, Jasraana, and Sirasganj. The region spans roughly 2,400 square kilometers and is home to over 3 million people.
The name comes from Firoz Shah Mansab Dar, who gave his name to the area during Emperor Akbar's time. The region was officially separated into its own administrative district in 1989.
The area sits within the Braj cultural region and is home to many religious sites like Vaishno Devi Dham and Jain temples that shape daily life. These sacred places are scattered throughout the territory and draw regular visitors and pilgrims.
National Highway 19 connects the district to major cities, and multiple railway routes make it easy to travel around. The best time to visit is from October to March when the weather is pleasant and cool.
The area is known for producing glass bangles and metalware in countless manufacturing units, which is why it earned the name Suhag Nagari. This craft tradition has shaped the local economy for generations.
