Musamman Burj, Octagonal tower in Agra Fort, India.
The marble structure of Musamman Burj contains eight sides with intricate stone inlays and carved lattice screens overlooking the Yamuna River.
Shah Jahan constructed this tower between 1631 and 1640 on the site of an earlier marble palace built by Emperor Akbar.
The tower's design incorporated screened windows that allowed royal women to observe activities below while maintaining their privacy according to court customs.
Visitors can reach the tower through the main entrance of Agra Fort and access the upper levels via a series of stone steps.
Shah Jahan spent his final eight years in this tower under imprisonment, gazing at the Taj Mahal through the marble screens.
