The temple sits 40 kilometers from Chamba and 30 kilometers from Dalhousie, with access through a route following the Ravi River past Chamera dam.
The recovered black stone statue began exhibiting perspiration after its theft and subsequent retrieval near Chohra dam site in 1973.
