Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary

Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary is a protected wetland area in Unnao District with natural vegetation covering several square kilometers. The site is home to numerous bird species and also contains areas where other wildlife such as deer can be observed.

The area was designated as a protected zone in 1984 to preserve bird species. In 2019, it received international recognition as a Ramsar site for its role in protecting migratory birds.

This place matters to people who study birds and has become a gathering spot for nature lovers in the region. Local residents take pride in the sanctuary as a place where both rare and common species can be observed and protected.

The best time to visit is between October and March when migratory birds arrive from Siberia and surrounding regions. Visitors can walk marked paths and use observation towers to view the wildlife from different vantage points.

The area combines a deer park with wetlands, making it possible to observe both land mammals and water birds in one location. This mix of different habitats within a single protected zone is quite uncommon.
