O.T.C. Hanuman Temple, Palayam, Hindu temple in Palayam, India.
The O.T.C. Hanuman Temple is a Hindu temple in the Palayam neighborhood of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The building follows traditional Kerala temple architecture and contains separate shrines for Hanuman, Shiva, Ganapati, Naga figures, and Yogeeswaran.
The temple traces its origin to the Nair Brigade military camp, which moved from Padmanabhapuram to Thiruvananthapuram and brought its deities along with it. That transfer gave the temple its place in Palayam and shaped the mix of military and religious life that still defines the area today.
The name O.T.C. stands for Officers Training Camp, a reference to the military past of the site that most visitors do not immediately notice. Today the temple draws a steady flow of worshippers who come for daily prayers and ritual offerings tied to Kerala Hindu practice.
The temple is easy to find near PMG Junction and the Kerala Legislative Assembly Complex, both well-known landmarks in central Thiruvananthapuram. Visiting in the early morning or late afternoon tends to be quieter and allows more time to move around the different shrines.
Despite being steps away from the Kerala Legislative Assembly, the temple is largely unknown to visitors and remains a place used almost entirely by local worshippers. This closeness to a seat of government gives the site an unusual mix of civic and religious life that few temples in the city share.
