Thottikallu is a waterfall in Bangalore Urban district, India, located near the village of Byalemaradadoddi. The water drops about 50 feet (15 meters) and splits into two separate streams as it flows between large rocks.
The Karnataka Forest Department took over management of this area to protect the traditional elephant migration route. The area has served as a passage for migrating herds moving between different forest zones for generations.
A small temple dedicated to the local deity Muneeshwara Swamy rests under a large tree at the base of the falls, where villagers perform regular rituals. The name Thottikallu translates to
Visitors can reach the falls by taking a bus from Banashankari station to Nallakunta, then walking a short forest path. The trail passes through dense greenery and can become slippery during the rainy season, so sturdy footwear is advisable.
The alternate name SwarnaMukhi comes from the golden reflections that appear when sunlight hits the falling water. These light effects are best seen in late morning when the sun reaches a particular angle.
