Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Alipurduar, Public boarding school in Alipurduar, India
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is a co-educational public school near Barobisha with extensive boarding facilities and academic buildings across its grounds. The campus features dormitories, classrooms, and various sports facilities that provide a complete learning environment for boarding students.
The school was founded in 2005 and initially served Jalpaiguri district. After an administrative reorganization in June 2014, it transferred to the newly created Alipurduar district and continued operations there.
The school carries the Sanskrit motto 'Pragñānam Brahma' and divides its students into four houses named after mountain ranges: Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik, and Udaygiri. Visitors can notice these house divisions when exploring the campus, where each group maintains its own spaces and traditions.
Students gain admission through an entrance exam offered in 21 different languages including Bengali, Hindi, and English. Tuition fees are kept low as it operates as a public institution that prioritizes boarding accommodations for its pupils.
The school focuses on admitting students from rural areas who show academic promise and might otherwise lack access to quality education. This has made it an opportunity pathway for talented children from less affluent communities.
