Amalapuram mandal extends over 80.6 square kilometers, containing 17 villages and towns with a population of 141,693 residents according to the 2011 census.
This mandal was initially part of East Godavari district until 2022, when it became part of the newly formed Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.
The mandal headquarters, Amalapuram town, features five temples dedicated to Shiva: Amaleswarudu, Sidheswarudu, Ramalingeswarudu, Chandramouleeswarudu, and Chennamalleeswarudu.
The region maintains a literacy rate of 84%, supported by numerous educational institutions including engineering colleges and schools teaching in both Telugu and English.
