Peddintlamma Temple, Kolletikota, Hindu temple near Kolleru Lake in Kolletikota, India
Peddintlamma Temple, also known as Peddintlamma Temple in Kolletikota, is a Hindu temple in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, standing on the edge of Kolleru Lake. The building is made of stone in the traditional regional style, with an inner sanctuary that houses two goddesses side by side.
The temple was built in the 13th century by a general serving under King Narasingha Deva I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. The region saw a wave of temple construction during that period, and this site was part of that broader effort.
The temple is known for its annual festival, which spans several days and ends with a ceremonial marriage between the goddess Jaladurga and the god Gokarneswara Swamy. Pilgrims travel from nearby villages to take part in the rituals, which fill the courtyard with offerings, music, and prayer.
The temple is reachable by road from Vijayawada, and vehicles can drive directly to the grounds. Visiting in the early morning tends to be calmer and the light over the lake is at its best at that time of day.
Unlike most temples, where a single deity occupies the inner sanctuary, here two goddesses share the same chamber. This kind of arrangement is rarely seen in temple architecture across the region.
