Villa l'Aube

Villa l'Aube is an Art Nouveau residence with white walls decorated with horizontal bands of glazed blue bricks and a mansard roof topping the upper floor. The building displays carefully composed facades with clean lines and color accents typical of the style.

The house was built in 1903 by Gustave Serrurier-Bovy, a Liège architect and interior designer, as his personal residence. This important figure shaped the interior design according to his own artistic vision, creating a unified work of art.

The west facade displays a mosaic titled 'L'Aube' by painter Auguste Donnay, showing a young woman awakening. This artwork is a focal point of the house and reflects how the owner merged architecture with fine art.

The property is located in the Cointe district and is accessible to visitors interested in exploring local architecture. Advance arrangements are advisable since the villa is not always open to the public.

The interior preserves original elements including figurative stained glass and geometric floor mosaics that predated the Art Deco style. This collection demonstrates an important designer's early experiments with modern forms and patterns.
