Saint Nedelya Church

The stone church building features traditional Eastern Orthodox architectural elements with high walls, strong gates, and a restored interior containing historical artifacts.

Constructed in 1813 over 75 days, the church became a refuge during the April 1876 uprising where 2,000 Bulgarian citizens faced a tragic end.

The church structure now functions as a memorial museum, displaying preserved remnants and telling stories of the Bulgarian struggle for independence.

Visitors can explore both the religious architecture and historical exhibits, with guided tours available to understand the significance of this national monument.

Despite attempts to conceal evidence of the 1876 events by repainting the walls, traces of blood stains remain visible within the church structure.
