BMO Field, Association football stadium in Toronto, Canada
BMO Field is an association football stadium in Toronto, Canada, played on natural grass and holding over 21,000 spectators. The structure consists of three covered stands and one open side facing Exhibition Place and Lake Ontario.
Construction began in 2005 and the opening took place on April 28, 2007, as Canada's first dedicated soccer venue of this size. Since then, the stadium received several expansions to host concerts and larger tournaments including the 2026 World Cup.
The stadium takes its name from its main bank sponsor and regularly welcomes Toronto FC along with the Canadian national team. On match days, fans gather outside the entrance wearing jerseys and singing together, creating sounds that carry across the lakefront neighborhood.
Streetcar and bus lines connect the stadium to downtown in about 15 minutes, while parking is available around the Exhibition grounds. Gates usually open one hour before kickoff and the venue is level for wheelchair users.
During the World Cup expansion, capacity will rise to over 45,000 seats, making it the first Canadian venue for that tournament. Temporary stands will be built along the open south side, blocking the lake view temporarily.
