The hotel's construction began in 2013 on the former site of New Fort York military buildings dating from the 1840s. The location connects historical significance with contemporary development.

The hotel connects directly to the Enercare Centre through an enclosed walkway and sits approximately 500 meters from the Beanfield Centre convention facility. This layout allows easy access to the surrounding convention areas.
