Queen's Wharf Lighthouse, Historical lighthouse in Toronto, Canada
The Queen's Wharf Lighthouse stands 11 meters tall with an octagonal wooden structure consisting of three stories and a basement near Fleet Street.
Built in 1861 to replace an earlier 1838 structure, the lighthouse guided ships into Toronto Harbour with its red light until deactivation in 1912.
The lighthouse represents Toronto's maritime heritage as one of only two remaining 19th-century lighthouses in the city, designed by Irish architect Kivas Tully.
Located at 651 Fleet Street, the lighthouse underwent restoration in 1988 and now stands next to the Fleet Loop streetcar turning station.
In 1929, workers moved the entire wooden structure 450 meters north from its original waterfront position to preserve it from harbor development projects.
