Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, Provincial park on Sibley Peninsula, Thunder Bay District, Canada

The park extends across 244 square kilometers on a peninsula that projects into Lake Superior, featuring granite cliffs rising 380 meters above water level.

The protected area, established in 1944 as Sibley Provincial Park, received its current name in 1988 to reflect the landform resembling a sleeping person.

The Ojibway people mined silver deposits at Silver Islet until European settlers established trading posts and mining operations in the nineteenth century.

The Marie Louise Lake campground contains 200 sites with electrical connections, while 27 backcountry locations provide remote camping opportunities throughout seven designated zones.

The Thunder Cape Bird Observatory records nearly 200 bird species during migrations, including bald eagles and American white pelicans using the peninsula as a rest point.
