Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, Sports hall of fame in Downtown Fort William, Thunder Bay, Canada
The Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame contains thousands of artifacts and archival materials displayed in cases designed to replicate different sports venues throughout the region.
Established in 1978, this institution has inducted over 225 individuals and 50 teams, including Paralympic swimmer Andrea Cole and hockey player Fred Kearney through the years.
The museum galleries present winter sports memorabilia in a ski chalet setting and summer sports photographs in a stadium environment to represent regional athletics.
Located at 219 May Street South, the facility opens Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM, with museum access available Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 PM.
The sports library and archives maintain historical documents about regional athletics, offering research opportunities through scheduled appointments for detailed exploration of local sports heritage.
