Hillcrest Park

Hillcrest Park is a public park in northern Thunder Bay that spreads across a wide area with distinct zones for different activities. The space features structured gardens, children's playgrounds, picnic areas, and views toward Lake Superior and the Sleeping Giant formation across the water.

The park was developed as a green space for the city and contains a World War II memorial dedicated to the Lake Superior Regiment. The memorial features a Universal Carrier military vehicle and marks the region's role during the war.

The Sunken Gardens display more than 70 flower varieties arranged along structured walkways that guide you through the space. These gardens form the heart of the park and draw people seeking quiet moments among plants.

The park has accessible parking areas, playgrounds, and picnic tables spread throughout the grounds. Portable restroom facilities are available, and the elevated location allows visitors to survey the harbor and surrounding area easily.

The elevated position of the park offers unobstructed views of Thunder Bay's harbor, making it a favored spot for photography and observation. On clear days, visitors can take in the water and adjacent landscapes in full scope.
