The Omni King Edward Hotel, Historic luxury hotel in Downtown Toronto, Canada
The grand hotel occupies an entire block between King Street, Victoria Street, Colborne Street and Leader Lane in downtown Toronto.
Opening in 1903, the hotel cost 2 million Canadian dollars to build and received its name from King Edward VII of England.
The Crystal Ballroom on the top floors became the center of Toronto social events, hosting celebrities including Elvis Presley and The Beatles.
The hotel contains 400 rooms, 300 bathrooms, and stands 18 stories tall after the 1921 expansion of the original building structure.
Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton generated public attention in 1964 when they shared a suite while unmarried, breaking social norms.
