Chateau de Tournay

Chateau de Tournay is a stone castle in Pregny-Chambésy situated on the right bank of Lake Geneva, displaying traditional Swiss architectural features. The building and its estate occupy a substantial property with extensive grounds arranged around the main residence.

The lord of Tournay commissioned construction of this château in 1691, building upon earlier medieval structures that had occupied the site. During the 18th century, the property became a hub for intellectual and artistic activities under the patronage of a prominent French philosopher.

The site carries meaning tied to the intellectual world of the 18th century, when it hosted theatrical performances and gatherings of notable thinkers. Walking through the grounds, one senses the mark left by these creative activities on the place itself.
