The stone château stands at 447 meters above sea level on the right bank of Lake Geneva, featuring traditional Swiss architectural elements.
Pierre de Brosses, lord of Tournay, commissioned the construction of this residence in 1691, following earlier structures dating back to medieval times.
Voltaire resided at the château from 1758 to 1778, transforming it into a center for theatrical performances and intellectual gatherings.
The property extends over 335,156 square meters, with 331,911 square meters officially designated as part of the château grounds.
The château underwent significant restoration between 2008 and 2011, maintaining its status as a class B Swiss cultural property of regional importance.
